Organized Matter is a production-design company and art studio with a focus on environmental space design, concept development and sculpture. Amid the lockdown of 2020, long time creative collaborators and artists Krislyn Komarov and James Benn met regularly co-creating artwork which prompted the expansion of Organized Matter to incorporate an art studio now known as OM Studio.
OM Studio’s current work is guided by the dialectics of beauty, brutality, ritual and fantasy, a vast array of materials are organized. This is to say, transformed into an elemental basic, to be processed and sculpted by the hand of their creators. What was plaster, wire, wax, metal, wood, or botanical element become a singularity. Within this freedom of form there is new meaning brought from the primitive into a reality where biology marks its footprint in the creation of a sacred space. OM actively dances through the arch of imagination “where the apparently known is transformed into dream-like scenarios that relate to a natural world” encouraging the viewer to imagine the stories at play from different perspectives.
From the interactions of these living stories a milieu is mystically produced, setting a dynamic space of light and shadow, where the artworks seek the proximity to each other through a hidden dialogue between the manifest and the invisible. “The works in this series reflect; some suspended in space, others anchored to the walls or traversing the floor.” From here, the presence of the spectator becomes a necessity, as a witness to the artistic entities’ changing meaning.
